The Vampire Diaries Spoiler: A Season 3 Primer

When we said goodbye to Mystic Falls in May, Stefan had joined up with Klaus; Jeremy's ex-girlfriends had returned as ghosts; and Damon had been looking really sexy.
So, where will everything stand on the September 15 premiere? Our friends at TV Fanatic have posted a number of The Vampire Diaries Spoilers to get fans prepared for a new season. Among them: The Vampire Diaries Season 3 Trailer .
  • Stefan is globe-trotting and committing many murders with Klaus.

  • Elena is turning 18.

  • Caroline and Tyler are figuring out their relationship.

  • Alaric is grieving the death of Jenna and trying to act as a father to her niece and nephew.

  • Damon? He's still looking really sexy.

The Vampire Diaries - Episode 3.01 - The Birthday

Season 3 Promo Shoot

The CW has released the official synopsis for The Vampire Diaries Season 3 premiere “The Birthday”. And thanks to TV Guide for another still from the episode.

IT’S MY PARTY — On the morning of Elena’s (Nina Dobrev) 18th birthday, Caroline (Candice Accola) is busy planning a party, but Elena is focused on searching for any clues that might help her discover where Stefan (Paul Wesley) is.  Damon (Ian Somerhalder) is also searching for Stefan, while trying to protect Elena and keep her from doing anything that would draw Klaus’ (Joseph Morgan) attention.  Meanwhile, Klaus and Stefan are busy trailing a werewolf named Ray Sutton (guest star David Gallagher, “Super 8”).  Now working at the Mystic Grill along with Matt (Zach Roerig), Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) is struggling to understand why he keeps seeing the ghosts of Vicki (guest star Kayla Ewell) and Anna (guest star Malese Jow) since he was brought back to life by Bonnie’s (Kat Graham) magic.  Meanwhile, Alaric (Matt Davis) does his best to watch over Elena and Jeremy, while dealing with his grief over Jenna’s death.  Finally, Caroline and Tyler (Michael Trevino) face a new and unexpected challenge.  John Behring directed the episode written by Kevin Williamson & Julie Plec (#301).

The Vampire Diaries Season 3 Spoilers Via The Insider

The Insider caught up with Kevin Williamson, where he offers up a handful of juice tidbits of season 3 spoilery goodness. He talks The Originals, Stefan's Ripper side, Matt's discovery of Vicki and where is Katherine this season? And thanks to Andrea at Nina Dobrev Network for the HQ of the season 3 promo shoot.

On the originals:
"Last year, fans met ancient vampire brothers Klaus & Elijah — one of whom is M.I.A. for the time being. But if you had fun getting to know these two, just wait until the rest of The Originals come to Mystic Falls. “I love the mythology behind the family of Originals,” Williamson tells me. “I like that there are eight members — the husband, the matriarch, someone cheated and a hybrid was born. Klaus is the bastard child of this entire family that we haven’t met yet, so as long as the show continues to thrive, every single one of them will show up!"
On Katherine:
With all the attention on Elena in the season premiere, it might be easy to forget about Katherine — who seemingly sauntered off into the night after witnessing an epically understated DaLena kiss. So will she return? Kevin remains coy: “If Katherine appears, and how she appears, remains to be seen.
